100% plastic free packaging
Most Dishwasher tablets come in packaging that is only "recyclable at large stores". We're yet to meet anyone who takes their plastic back to store to recycle. We've replaced the plastic packaging with FSC cardboard, that is 100% recyclable. The wrapping of our Dishwasher tablets is made from PVOH - which is a water-soluble polymer. Although it is synthetic, it is unusual in that it biodegrades in normal conditions back to CO2 and water. There's no need to unwap the tablet before you use it.

Why are your Dishwasher tablets better?

Not only do our Dishwasher tablets provide a superior clean, but they contain zero harmful phosphonates that are found in most other Dishwasher tablets. In addition, the packaging is completely plastic-free.
Why are Phosphonates bad?
According the UK’s Environment Agency, Phosphorus is the #1 cause of poor water quality in the UK. We believe that including harmful chemicals in Dishwasher tablets is unnecessary and so we have excluded Phosphonates and any other ingredients that harm aquatic life.
What is the wrapping of your Dishwasher tablets made of?
The wrapping of our Dishwasher is made from PVOH, Polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) which is a water-soluble polymer. Although it is synthetic, it is unusual in that it biodegrades back to CO2 and H2O in normal conditions.
Aren’t the supermarket brands’ plastic Dishwasher bags recyclable?
Most brands come in plastic bags that are not recyclable at home. If you check the small print, they are only recyclable at larger stores. Even then, only 9% of plastic is ever recycled, so we believe that avoiding plastic completely is a much better solution for our Ocean.
